I've completed additional training in the areas of Perfectionism, Grief and Loss, Anxiety, Phobias, OCD, and ADHD. I enjoy learning about neurodiversity and the way it impacts mental health. I also think it can be valuable to acknowledge and examine the messages that we receive from our environment throughout life. I work a lot with perfectionists who tend to be driven, high achievers, but also have unrealistic standards of themselves and a heightened fear of failure. As a result, the perfectionist mindset creates a sense of stress, anxiety, or anger. Let’s work on creating change together- so that you can develop confidence, learn to cope with worrisome thoughts, and show yourself and others true compassion.

I work with teens and adults, particularly those transitioning out of high school and into the next stages of their lives, who find it easy to show compassion to others, but struggle to show themselves the same kindness. They are often perfectionists, people-pleasers, sensitive people, and over-thinkers. I have considerable experience working with teenagers, college students, and young adults, but I enjoy working with all ages. I have completed additional training related to perfectionism, anxiety, and ADHD.
When working with me, you can expect to feel understood, supported, and gently challenged to make shifts that will move you forward. Whether your focus is on strengthening your relationships, navigating difficult life transitions, or "unsticking" yourself from depression, anxiety, or trauma, our work together is aimed at empowering you to create positive change.

I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their best sense of self and find fulfillment in life. Sometimes, we are held back by past hurts, low self esteem, anxiety, loss, or past trauma. Therapy can help you find ways to overcome life challenges, feel more confident, and have better relationships,I strongly value a person-centered approach in treatment. This means it is of the upmost importance that the therapeutic relationship feels safe, non-judgmental, warm, genuine and empathic in order for you to access true emotional change.

Sometimes life can feel so overwhelming, and when you don’t have time or space for yourself to process, the burden can feel too big to bare. Stress, overwhelming emotions, relationship difficulties, and other life stressors can prevent us from experiencing joy and leave us feeling fearful and hopeless. Many don’t know where to start when it comes to processing difficult emotions, overcoming trauma and loss, or opening up to someone for the first time.
Through kindness, respect, and collaboration, I help clients to explore their strengths, fears, motivations, and goals. I teach skills to help develop mindfulness, emotional resiliency, and the interpersonal skills necessary to foster healthy relationships with others. Whether you are new to therapy or are accustomed to the process, I hope to provide a warm, safe, and personalized environment for you to discover more about yourself and develop the skills to build the life you want.

I believe that you are your own expert and I will be available to provide feedback and ideas for new approaches. Maybe you are going through a tough time now, a divorce, anxiety, relationship issues, or things from the past hindering you today. I believe that a trusting relationship can be a vital tool in navigating daily struggles that can be overwhelming. As a therapist, I believe we all have endless strengths. Discovering these can be much easier if you have a person who believes in you. Even though we discuss difficult topics, we can find humor, connection, and healing. There is hope.

Life can be full of stressors, never-ending to-do lists, relationship issues, family obligations . Sometimes this can get so overwhelming that it can feel like we can’t come up for air. At this point, it can feel impossible to feel joy and that success is attainable. I believe therapy is a valuable tool to reconnect to hope and peace. I have experience working with children and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and challenges with emotional regulation. I also enjoy working with adults who feel like they are at a stand still with the next steps they need to take to feel happier and more fulfilled.

Carissa Russell, Student Intern
My approach is centered in building strong relationships with my clients, working collaboratively to address concerns, and fostering an environment of trust and understanding- with humor sprinkled along the way. I enjoy working with those wanting to decrease anxiety, increase self-confidence, and find their own unique inner power. My background lies in fostering social and emotional skills in children and helping families navigate the challenges of parenting and personal growth. I’m thrilled to be close to graduating and plan to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker so that I can continue to work with clients. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring nature, and engaging in my own self-care and personal growth.

I am currently pursuing my Master's in Social Work at UNR and am passionate about working with adults, particularly older adults who are struggling emotionally.
I live in Incline Village, NV with my husband and three children, where I enjoy hiking,
going to the beach, and baking. As a former elementary educator, I hope to one day work with
children and families as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I enjoy incorporating
meditation and mindfulness into my work with clients.
