Therapy can be a lot of things, and what it should be most is effective. This is not about what is “right or wrong” but rather about finding what it is that works for you. While specializing in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I aim to support my clients in discovering ways to increase their satisfaction while decreasing distress. At this time, I am currently working towards becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist.
As a substance use counselor, I am able to conduct court ordered substance use evaluations

While I have taken training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I am completely independent in providing you with clinical services and I alone am responsible for those services. The Gottman Institute or it's agents have no responsibility for the services you receive.

I believe each person is unique and that their experiences, in addition to biology, help shape who they are. My background has contributed to my understanding of the connection between people and the systems in which they are involved. I learn a lot from my clients and I enjoy learning about the brain; I feel that understanding what is going on in there, particularly related to neurodivergence, is so helpful in understanding our mental health.

I have experience working with different types of trauma, people who are having trouble adjusting to new environments or medical injuries/diagnoses, those navigating acute life crises, first responders, Veterans, teens, anxiety, grief, and depression. Trauma comes in many forms and can make your life feel permanently on hold, but there is hope. I have additional knowledge and training in the areas of Traumatic Brain Injuries, which can lead to changes in the way a person thinks, feels, and behaves, as well as Post-intensive care syndrome (PICS). I believe that professional support during the rehabilitation stage of medical injuries or acute grief can be extremely helpful, as untreated trauma and grief can affect how we view ourselves and the world.

Although I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and life transitions, I do not see the individual that walks into my office as a diagnosis or set of problems. Alternatively, I seek to empower individuals to identify their own strengths, problem-solve ways to overcome obstacles, and begin moving in the direction of their values. I do this by providing a
compassionate, culturally-sensitive space to process hardship and begin to rebuild a sense of self-compassion and identity.
My style is influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with an emphasis on mindfulness-based practices.
I also integrate Internal Family Systems and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing as appropriate. It's important that as you seek care, you are fully informed about various therapeutic approaches and involved in the treatment planning process.
Perusing therapist profiles is a courageous act and the first step towards building a life that is aligned with your hopes and values. If you feel that I may be a good fit for you, please reach out via phone or email.

I believe that you are your own expert and I will be available to provide feedback and ideas for new approaches. Maybe you are going through a tough time now, a divorce, anxiety, relationship issues, or things from the past hindering you today. I believe that a trusting relationship can be a vital tool in navigating daily struggles that can be overwhelming. As a therapist, I believe we all have endless strengths. Discovering these can be much easier if you have a person who believes in you. Even though we discuss difficult topics, we can find humor, connection, and healing. There is hope.

As a therapist who previously served within the VA healthcare system, I have a special interest in helping clients explore the grief and trauma that may be contributing to their current stress and crisis. I have worked with those struggling with chronic health issues, significant grief, trauma, and anxiety.
I work with people who feel stuck in patterns and cycles of avoidance, pain, distress, and grief. My clients are often those who need to figure out a new way forward and are open to feedback in ways they can approach their problems. I focus on helping you cultivate self-compassion, healing, and a renewed sense of control; developing ways to reduce sufferinng and feelings of isolation.

I typically collaborate with adolescents and young adults looking to feel understood and, in turn, better understand themselves. Clients I work with often have high emotional sensitivity and experience depression, anxiety, mood lability, grief, trauma, spirituality issues, and relational conflict. Together, we learn tools to increase self-validation, make behavioral changes, and reenvision life's experiences. Clients find they develop skills to cope with strong emotions, improve their emotional expression with others, and experience genuine, authentic connection.

My training in DBT guides me to be able to work with those who want to increase their skills in areas of mindfulness, regulating emotions, tolerating stress, and balancing relationships. My Level 3 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy provides me the ability to guide couples toward ways to manage conflict, build friendship and increase shared meaning. I strategize with my clients to develop ways to increase effectiveness, whether that be in their personal, work and/or social life. Life is hard and most people are already doing the best they can with the skills they have. In therapy, we work towards filling your skill box for various life experiences, big or small.

I have completed specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT), am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. While my experience ranges widely, I have more extensive experience working with severe mental Illnesses, autism, trauma, and adolescents. I believe each person has uniquely different life paths & experiences, so I don’t practice a one-size fits all approach to therapy. Instead I use an easy-going,compassionate, and flexible approach to get to know you. My hope is to develop a relationship that allows us to tackle the things you find difficult, and find meaning and purpose in your life while allowing you to feel heard, seen, and validated. And because laughter is healing, and reality can be absurd, humor is welcomed in session.
