How long does each therapy session take?
A therapeutic hour typically runs for 50-55 minutes. Keep in mind that initial assessments may take longer. Your first session is called an "intake". The intake is the first meeting, where we will discuss what brings you to therapy, stressors, current symptoms, and some personal history.
Is there anything I need to do prior to our first appointment?
Before our first appointment, I will send you a link to a client portal for you to fill out initial paperwork online. This allows us to begin our work together when we have our first session, rather than being tied up in paperwork.
What insurances do you accept?
Each therapist may accept different insurance. Click the about me button beneath their picture to learn more. We are currently an Out of Network Provider for many insurance companies. We encourage clients to view therapy as an investment with a strong rate of return to your well-being. That being said, therapy can be a large expense and we do our best to assist clients in working with their insurance companies. Contact your insurance to find out more about your out-of-network coverage if your insurance is not listed. Some insurances provide reimbursement directly to clients after they see an out-of-network provider, but it is important to begin by speaking to your insurance representative.
Additional information and documentation can be provided upon request so that you may submit for reimbursement for my services, but payment is due at the time of the session.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
-
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
So, what's with all the plants?
Your life is like a plant: you have to water it and give it sunlight in order for it to grow. If you over-water your plant (over-analyze, focus too much on overachievement, obsess about situations you can’t change) you’ll drown the plant and it won’t survive . Plants only need so much water.
If you leave it too long in the sun without enough water for survival (similar to getting involved with negative peers, forgetting ones own values, spiraling into addiction, isolation, and putting in no effort) it will burn out. Yet again, it wasn’t being maintained well.
In order to grow a healthy plant, you must learn about your plant and give it just what it needs to flourish. Why not do learn to do that with your life?"
